Academic Integrity & Research Ethics Policy

1. Purpose

Ascend GRC is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical research practices. This policy establishes guidelines to ensure honesty, fairness, and accountability in all educational and research activities conducted by or on behalf of Ascend GRC.


2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, board members, contractors, researchers, trainers, and students engaged in research, training, and publication under Ascend GRC.


3. Definitions

  • Academic Integrity: The commitment to honesty, fairness, and responsibility in scholarly work.

  • Research Ethics: Principles that ensure research is conducted responsibly, protecting participants' rights and well-being.

  • Plagiarism: The use of another’s work without proper attribution.

  • Conflict of Interest: A situation where personal interests may improperly influence academic or research activities.

Ascend GRC is committed to:

  • Promoting honesty, transparency, and accountability in all academic and research work.

  • Ensuring compliance with ethical research standards and Australian regulations.

  • Protecting human subjects, intellectual property, and academic freedom.

  • Encouraging the responsible conduct of research and fair attribution of contributions.


5. Research & Academic Integrity Standards

  • Plagiarism Prevention: All academic and research work must include proper citation and originality checks.

  • Ethical Research Conduct: Research involving human participants must adhere to ethical guidelines and secure informed consent.

  • Data Integrity: Researchers must ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and proper storage of research data.

  • Peer Review & Transparency: Research findings should undergo peer review and be disclosed transparently.

  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Any potential conflicts of interest must be declared and managed.


6. Compliance & Monitoring

  • All research must comply with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (NHMRC).

  • Training in academic integrity and research ethics will be provided to all relevant personnel.

  • Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including suspension from research activities.
