By providing expert training and guidance in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), we help businesses, not-for-profits, and government agencies navigate complex regulatory landscapes with confidence and integrity.

Organisational Structure and Governance

Legal Structure

Ascend GRC is a project initiated by West Group Social Ventures Pty Ltd (ABN 18 670 524 348). It operates as a not-for-profit initiative, dedicated to providing governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) training to Australian organisations, government entities, not-for-profits, and international organisations.

Governance and Management

Ascend GRC is led by a Managing Director, who is responsible for the strategic direction, operations, and overall management of the organisation. The Managing Director is supported by an Executive Team that oversees key functional areas, ensuring the organisation delivers on its mission and objectives.

To strengthen decision-making, ensure accountability, and drive continuous improvement, Ascend GRC is guided by a series of Advisory Committees, each with a defined purpose. These committees provide expert insights, strategic recommendations, and oversight to the Managing Director and Executive Team.

Ascend GRC Advisory Committees - Overview

  • Governance and Risk Advisory Committee
    Provides oversight and strategic guidance on governance, risk management, and compliance matters. Advises on best practices in corporate governance and regulatory frameworks. Ensures alignment with relevant Australian regulations, frameworks, and international standards where applicable.
  • Education and Training Advisory Committee
    Guides the development of training programs, ensuring they meet industry needs and regulatory requirements. Advises on curriculum design and accreditation opportunities. Engages with professionals, board members, and key stakeholders to refine the educational offerings.
  • International Development and Aid Governance Committee
    Focuses on enhancing the governance capabilities of international organisations, including those receiving Australian aid funding (e.g., AusAid/DFAT). Ensures alignment with international best practices in governance, risk, and compliance. Identifies strategic partnerships to expand Ascend GRC’s impact globally.
  • Finance and Sustainability Advisory Committee
    Provides oversight on financial sustainability, budgeting, and funding strategies. Advises on the organisation’s financial governance, ensuring compliance with NFP financial management principles. Explores opportunities for grants, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships.
  • Technology and Innovation Advisory Committee
    Advises on digital transformation and the use of technology in GRC training. Explores innovative delivery methods, including e-learning platforms, AI-driven compliance tools, and emerging technologies. Ensures cybersecurity and data protection measures are integrated into operations.
